Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has added another $12.6 million worth of Bitcoin to its portfolio, continuing its accumulation strategy.
On Monday, Metaplanet announced the purchase of an additional 150 BTC at approximately $83,801 per Bitcoin, increasing its total holdings to 3,350 BTC, acquired for about $278.8 million, according to CEO Simon Gerovich. Based on current market prices, this would now be valued at approximately $291.3 million.
This move follows the appointment of Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s second son, to Metaplanet’s Strategic Board of Advisors.
Gerovich noted that Trump’s “business expertise and passion for BTC” will support the company’s goal to become “one of the world’s leading Bitcoin Treasury Companies.”
