Bitcoin’s Volatility is Lower Than Amazon’s and Meta’s Shares

Bitcoin’s annualized volatility, which measures the standard deviation of the last 30 days of daily percentage change in its value, is currently at 32%, slightly lower than its all-time average of 71%.

This relatively low level of volatility comes at a time when trading activity is typically low, leading some to call it the “summer lull.”

Rebecca Stevens, from The Block Research, noted that 2021 was different from last summer, pointing to the crypto downturn and the Terra-Luna scandal, which caused a drop in bitcoin’s value in May and a degree of instability.

Nonetheless, Bitcoin volatility is far from matching the stability of assets such as gold and Apple stock.
