ESET, a well-know ciber security research company, has recently uncovered a scheme that has been disseminating Trojan-infected apps disguised as popular crypto wallets.

According to the report published by ESET, the malicious scheme targets mobile devices using Android or Apple (iOS).

The apps are reportedly distributed through bogus websites, and imitate legitimate crypto wallets, including MetaMask, Coinbase or Trust Wallet.

The company has also identified 13 malicious apps impersonating the Jaxx Liberty wallet, available on the Google Play Store. The tech giant has removed the apps, however, they had already been installed more than 1,100 times.

The bad actors promoted the fake apps through social media groups on Facebook and Telegram.
