Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has regained control of its Discord server following a brief but concerning security breach caused by a compromised account.

The incident alarmed community members, sparking concerns about the safety of their crypto assets. Ledger team member Quintin Boatwright explained that a contracted moderator’s account was compromised, allowing a malicious bot to post scam links in a channel.

The hacker directed users to a secondary website, urging them to enter their recovery phrase—a private code granting full access to their crypto wallets.

Individuals who tried to warn others were muted or banned, as the attacker used computer bots to silence these warnings and prevent the scam’s rapid spread.
