Crypto donations surpassed one billion dollars in 2024, setting a historic record fueled by rising markets and improved regulatory conditions.
According to The Giving Block, over 70% of major US charitable organizations now accept crypto donations.
Five states account for the majority of donations, led by New York at 22%, followed by Florida (15%), California (13%), Pennsylvania (11%), and Washington DC (10%). This evolving distribution indicates the growing democratization of crypto donations nationwide.
Education and health are the most supported causes, receiving 16% and 14% of donations, respectively, with other sectors receiving between 1% and 10%.
In 2024, there’s also been a shift in cryptos used for donations. While stablecoins made up 44% of donations in 2023, four cryptocurrencies—Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, and Solana—now dominate, comprising 90% of donated assets.
