The State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) has disclosed investments in spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) offered by Grayscale and BlackRock.

According to a May 14 filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the government entity responsible for managing Wisconsin state trust funds reported holding more than 2.4 million shares in the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and over a million shares in the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC).

These investments are valued at approximately $100 million and $64 million, respectively. The filing indicated that the Wisconsin Retirement System might have exposure to crypto investments through these two asset management firms.

As of December 2023, SWIB managed more than $156 billion in assets, with about 48% allocated to public equity investments. Other notable investments include shares of stock in Coinbase, MicroStrategy, and Cleanspark.
