Australia Puts Off Crypto Legalization Till 2024

Reading time: < 1 minute

The Australian authorities have pushed back the deadline for the legalization of cryptocurrency exchanges and blockchain services to 2024, allowing more time for the government to study the features of the industry.

A consultation document will be published in mid-2023, giving businesses and experts the opportunity to provide their comments and wishes regarding the proposed regulatory framework for the digital asset market.

Over the course of the next year, the Australian Treasury will conduct multiple rounds of negotiations with members of the crypto sphere.

If the government is unable to agree on a bill by 2024, adoption may be delayed until 2025, though the leadership will attempt to expedite the process.
