Binance has restructured its top leadership by appointing co-founder Yi He to serve as co-CEO alongside Richard Teng, solidifying her influence in the company’s formal command structure.
The strategic promotion was announced by Richard Teng during the Binance Blockchain Week event. Teng described He’s elevation as “a natural progression,” citing her continuous presence in the executive leadership since Binance’s founding.
According to Teng, Yi He’s prior work as chief marketing officer is central to scaling Binance’s user base and innovating its product suite. Yi He responded that the dual-CEO model would effectively combine her crypto-native vision with Teng’s background in regulated finance.
Yi He helped launch Binance with Changpeng “CZ” Zhao back in 2017. Richard Teng took over as CEO in November 2023 following CZ’s guilty plea with the US Department of Justice and subsequent resignation, stepping up from his prior role overseeing the exchange’s international markets outside the US.
