The push by crypto companies to offer tokenized stocks to retail investors is facing heightened scrutiny from the world’s leading stock exchanges.

In a letter to the SEC, the World Federation of Exchanges cautioned that a proposed regulatory “shortcut” would endanger investors.

They argue that exempting these firms from broker-dealer registration requirements removes the very protections that prevent fraud and ensure market stability, all for the sake of experimental business models.
