Visa has begun piloting a service for US businesses to send stablecoin payouts from their fiat currency accounts.

The pilot, announced at the Web Summit in Lisbon, uses the Visa Direct network to transfer funds like USDC to a recipient’s crypto wallet.

Recipients can opt to be paid in stablecoins, providing a faster payment option for workers and freelancers.

Visa, which plans a full rollout in 2026, said the service is first being offered to international businesses and gig economy platforms.
