S&P Global announced the launch of the “S&P Digital Markets 50,” its first index to combine cryptocurrencies and crypto-related stocks. The new benchmark will track 15 major digital assets and 35 equities from the digital asset sector.
According to a statement, the index is designed to provide a performance measure for the broader crypto ecosystem and meet growing investor demand for diversified exposure. It will follow S&P’s standard governance, including quarterly rebalancing and a rule that no single asset can exceed 5% of the index.
The move signals a significant endorsement from one of the world’s most prominent financial data providers, acknowledging crypto’s growing integration into traditional finance.
