CFTC Moves Toward Spot Crypto Trading on Futures Exchanges

Reading time: < 1 minute

The CFTC is making a bold move—exploring spot crypto trading on regulated futures markets (DCMs). The agency is now seeking public input on how to implement this under existing rules.

Acting Chair Caroline Pham called the effort a key part of “Crypto Sprint,” the CFTC’s push to enact White House crypto policies. Comments are due by August 18.

If approved, this could be a major step in merging crypto spot markets with traditional derivatives platforms.
