Republicans in the House rallied late Wednesday to advance three major crypto bills, overcoming earlier resistance from conservatives wary of unintended CBDC implications.
The GENIUS Act, Clarity Act, and Anti-CBDC bill are now headed for a Thursday vote after H.Res 580 passed 217-212.
The GENIUS Act, set to regulate stablecoins, could become law within days if the House and Senate agree. Meanwhile, the Clarity Act defines crypto oversight roles, and the Anti-CBDC bill explicitly blocks the Fed from issuing a retail digital currency—a key GOP priority.
Some Republicans had initially opposed the package, fearing the GENIUS Act might enable a CBDC, but sponsors assured them it would not. The Senate will have the final say.
