Global investment management firm VanEck is expanding its presence in the venture capital market by launching a new fund focused on fintech, digital asset, and artificial intelligence (AI) companies in the pre-seed or seed stages.

This $30 million fund, called VanEck Ventures, is a strategic expansion for the firm and will be managed by Wyatt Lonergan and Juan Lopez, who previously led Circle Ventures.

The fund plans to invest in 25-30 different projects, providing investments ranging from $500,000 to $1 million for each.

The focus will be on companies that offer both strategic and financial upside, and VanEck Ventures has already invested in four projects.

According to Jan van Eck, CEO of VanEck, the firm has always believed in the potential of disruptive opportunities, from pioneering gold investing in 1968 to recognizing the potential of Bitcoin in 2017.

This new fund extends that philosophy into the early-stage venture space, with a specific focus on fintech companies shaping the future of finance.
