Polygon zkEVM Resumes Operations After Failure

Reading time: < 1 minute

On March 23, a failure occurred in the Polygon zkEVM network, causing the blockchain to be down for more than 10 hours.

The team reported the failure was due to a problem with the sequencing process caused by a reorganization in the first level of the blockchain.

To fix the problem, emergency mode was activated, which allowed developers to make the necessary adjustments to resume normal operation.

The delay only affected the Polygon zkEVM network and did not affect the Polygon PoS mainnet or any other network built on top of the Polygon CDK.

The emergency mode was later disabled, and the team reminded users that all protocol updates will follow the standard 10-day delay.

This week, the team will also release the results of its investigation into the cause of the failure.
