Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has compared former FTX CEO Sam “SBF” Bankman-Fried to notorious fraudster Bernie Madoff and accused the media of giving the former executive a “free pass.”
Bernard Lawrence Madoff orchestrated the largest Ponzi scheme in history, worth an estimated $64.8 billion.
Madoff had previously served as chairman of the Nasdaq stock exchange. Hoskinson expressed frustration with the media’s attention towards SBF, despite public evidence of SBF and FTX’s involvement in misappropriation and theft of customer funds.
He believes this highlights the corruption within the system. In an X (formerly Twitter) post on October 9, Hoskinson criticized author Michael Lewis for his book about SBF that has gained significant media coverage just before SBF’s trial. He described the book as an “apology tour.”
