US Authorities to Install Tracker on Sam Bankman-Fried’s Cell Phone

A judge has approved the strict control of Sam Bankman-Fried’s (SBF) and his parents’ mobile phones while he is under house arrest.

These restrictions include the installation of tracking software on all their communication devices, along with experts reviewing keystroke logs, screenshots and phone calls from Joseph Bankman and Barbara Freed at least three times a week.

This is to ensure that SBF cannot contact any witnesses while on house arrest, as prosecutors suspected him of doing so and of using a VPN.

As part of the new bail conditions, SBF must use a smartphone without Internet access and a laptop with limited functionality, only allowing for approved websites.

Though the court initially ruled to install software on the parents’ phones that would take a picture of the user every five minutes, SBF lawyers noted that the tracking program does not have such functionality.
