The chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler, has said that crypto assets and other new technologies are on the US Securities and Exchange Commission top priorities list for 2023.
He has said:
“The Examination Department will review broker-dealers and RIAs that use new financial technologies or apply new methods, including technology and online solutions.”
One of the tasks of the department will be to study the compliance of firms working with digital assets with appropriate standards of protection in the preparation of recommendations and investment advice.
The watchdog will also focus on assessing the frequency with which companies review their compliance, disclosure and risk management practices.
