BlackRock’s IBIT ETF Reaches 700K BTC: A Sign of Sustained Institutional Demand

Reading time: < 1 minute

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has crossed 700,000 BTC ($76 billion) in assets under management, underscoring persistent institutional interest in Bitcoin exposure via regulated vehicles.

The milestone follows 1,510 BTC in net inflows on July 7, per K33’s Vetle Lunde, after holding 698,919 BTC as of July 3. Nate Geraci described the fund’s growth—700K BTC in 18 months—as “ridiculous,” while Eric Balchunas highlighted IBIT’s rise to third place in BlackRock’s ETF revenue rankings, just $9 billion from the top spot.

Notably, IBIT surpassed Grayscale’s GBTC in AUM in early 2025 and has since widened its lead, demonstrating the competitive edge of lower-fee, institutionally backed Bitcoin ETFs.
