California is one step closer to allowing cryptocurrency payments for state services after the Assembly passed AB 1180 in a 68-0 vote.
Sponsored by Assemblymember Avelino Valencia, the bill directs the DFPI to create a framework for crypto transactions, with a pilot program running until 2031.
If enacted, California would follow states like Florida and Colorado in adopting digital currency payments.
The move could streamline government transactions and position California as a leader in financial innovation.
