Bitcoin has crossed the $110,000 threshold for the first time, climbing by 3% in a day and setting new price records beyond those seen earlier this year. It reached an all-time high of $110,788.98 on Coinbase late on May 21, just before 11:30 pm UTC.

Within the previous 24 hours, Bitcoin gained about 3%, eclipsing its earlier record of $109,458 from the same day—a milestone surpassing the January 20 peak held for months.

The world’s most prominent cryptocurrency has increased by 17.5% this year and is up 47% since its April 7 drop to $75,000, driven by tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump that upset global markets.

The cryptocurrency’s new high comes amid volatile US stock markets, affected by a disappointing 20-year bond auction on May 21, leading to rising treasury yields. The S&P 500 plunged 80 points in 30 minutes, with parallel declines in the Nasdaq and Dow Jones, as all US indexes traded negatively.
