Arizona has officially embraced crypto in its unclaimed property laws, with Governor Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) signing HB 2749 into effect.
The bill, led by House Commerce Committee Chairman Jeff Weninger (R-AZ), ensures that unclaimed digital assets—such as Bitcoin or Ethereum—remain in their original form rather than being sold off.
If an owner doesn’t transact or respond to notices for three years (matching rules for stocks), custodians must transfer the assets to the state.
Additionally, a new reserve fund will hold earnings from staking or airdrops, with spending requiring legislative approval.
