Binance Lawsuit Transferred to Florida

A US judge has approved Binance’s request to move a case concerning money laundering allegations to the Southern District of Florida, where a similar case was previously heard.

The case, initially filed in Washington in August 2024, centers on issues overlapping with a June 2023 lawsuit in Florida.

This lawsuit accuses Binance of enabling cybercriminals to launder money on its platform, US District Judge Barbara Rothstein stated in her April 21 order.

She noted that although the complaints describe the proposed classes differently, they both involve individuals whose cryptocurrency was stolen and transferred to a Binance.com account in the same period.

Thus, Judge Rothstein concluded that the classes of plaintiffs are similar enough to apply the first-to-file rule.
