Crypto exchange Kraken has registered as a restricted dealer in Canada, enabling it to continue providing crypto trading services to Canadian users within the country’s evolving regulatory landscape.
This registration, announced on Tuesday, follows a multi-year process that required exchanges to adhere to higher standards for investor protection and governance.
Kraken collaborated closely with Canadian regulators during this pre-registration phase, enhancing its compliance systems and internal controls to meet the expectations of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).
To spearhead its Canadian expansion, Kraken appointed Cynthia Del Pozo as general manager for North America. With extensive experience in fintech and operations, Del Pozo will oversee strategy, regulatory engagement, and business development across the region.
