Worldcoin and OpenAI co-creator Sam Altman announced today the launch of their self-custodial World App mobile application.
This app allows users to manage their World ID, an online tool for verifying personhood, and a range of cryptocurrencies such as BTC, ETH, DAI, USDC, and the highly anticipated Worldcoin token (due to be released in the first half of 2021).
Developed by Tools For Humanity, the app has gained 1.5 million users in testing and logs around 60,000 transactions daily.
Features of the app include the ability to deposit and withdraw funds via bank accounts or local payment tools, and to send money to phone contacts or crypto addresses.
According to Tiago Sada, Head of Product, Engineering, and Design at Tools For Humanity, the app is “already the fastest growing wallet in the world” with a new user signing up every 14 seconds.
