Blocknox, a division of the Stuttgart Stock Exchange (Boerse Stuttgart), has been granted a cryptocurrency custodian license by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), as announced in a press release.
The license granted by BaFin allows the sixth largest stock exchange in Europe to provide institutional investors with digital assets trading and custody services.
This includes banks, brokers, property management companies and family offices.
Matthias Voelkel, CEO of Boerse Stuttgart, has said:
“Our platform is a one-stop service for brokering, trading and holding cryptocurrencies, fully regulated by BaFin.”
In April 2022, Commerzbank, one of Germany’s largest banking groups, submitted a similar application.
